Mr & Mrs Rawlinson where in need of new front windows and a door but rather than just renew with like-for-like, they wanted to modernise the look of their property with Anthracite Grey Cladding and an Anthracite Grey Solidor Composite Door.

Before: Mr & Mrs Rawlinson’s home before Gardinia had undertaken any work

To achieve this, the old timber cladding between the two bay windows and around the front bedroom window was replaced with 9mm Cellular Foam Shiplap cladding in Anthracite Grey. When fitting dark coloured cladding, the more commonly used hollow shiplap boarding can be vulnerable to excessive expansion which can lead to warping where the high density cellular foam cladding used by Gardinia is a lot more robust.

The front door was also replaced with a Ludlow door in Anthracite Grey glazed with the Triple Glazed Abstract Glass design. This door was manufactured by Solidor using a ‘Hardwood Block core’ Solid Core. This construction stabilises the dark coloured door skin which significantly reduces the chance of thermal cracking that can be a problem with foam filled composite doors. The cladding around the door was fitted in White rather than the Anthracite Grey to enhance the effect of the door.

After: Mr & Mrs Rawlinson’s home after Gardinia had completed work

Mr & Mrs Rawlinson are delighted with their installation and commented that the door looks particularly good at night when the hall light shines through the intricate glass design.
