Why Choose a Solidor Composite Door?

Your front door is the heartbeat of your home – it gets the most use, protects you from the elements and it keeps you safe. Whether you’re planning a whole house renovation or a simple lick of paint, the impact of a new front door can transform any property.

Composite Doors installed by Gardinia are manufactured by Solidor and descend from an outstanding range of industry leading, solid laminate timber core composite doors. These doors combine classical, modern or even futuristic styling with a full range of Secured by Design locking systems, providing a stunning, high quality and most importantly, secure entrance to any home.

With a door slab thickness of 48-mm a Solidor Composite Doors from Gardinia are nearly 10% thicker than most of the alternatives on the market. Each solid timber core is completely encapsulated within a highly durable plastic edge banding, along with two thermo-plastic door skins. The result of this means you will never have to worry about painting or varnishing your composite door in the future.

Gardinia also offer the option of a mobility threshold, making a Solidor Composite Door the perfect solution for easy wheel or push chair access.

In 2013 Gardinia became the first Solidor premium installer in the Kirklees area. This means all Composite Doors installed by Gardinia have been fully manufactured by Solidor, to their own high quality security specifications. This specification is based on years of in house research and extensive testing to create the most secure composite door on the market. Gardinia chose to partner with Solidor because of our 30 years experience in supplying quality products, we feel this harmonises with the Solidor concept.

Composite Door Colour Options

A comprehensive range of matching door colours and frames are available for Solidor Composite Doors, with either glass, matching composite side panel or quarter panel, which will complement the look of any property.

The best colour for your door depends a lot on the style of your house, but as a guide, traditional homes generally suit rich colours such as Peacock Blue, while modern homes suit more contemporary shades, such as warm grey or golden sand.

All Solidor Composite Doors are available in 20 colours options, inside and / or outside of the door, including industry firsts, Mocha, Chartwell Green, Duck Egg Blue and French Grey. You can also choose from 18 different frame colour combinations and even mix and match, for example: Chartwell Green on White outer frame with Duck Egg Blue on a French Grey door.

Secured By Design

Secured by Design focuses on crime prevention of homes and commercial premises and promotes the use of security standards for a wide range of applications and products. Composite doors installed by Gardinia have been tested at a UKAS accredited test house and have achieved:

  • BS:PAS 23 General Performance Requirements
  • BS:PAS 24 Enhanced Security Requirements.

The Break-In Test

The video below shows three composite doors undertaking the PAS 24 enhanced security requirements test, also know as the cut through test. From watching this video you will see the difference in security & quality between a composite door which is able to pass the PAS 24 test, compared to a standard composite door which is unable to:

Secure Ultion Door Lock

Fitted on every Solidor as standard is the Ultion Door Lock. The Ultion is a 3 star diamond kitemarked, secured by design accredited euro cylinder offering unprecedented security against lock snapping attacks.

When it detects attack, a hidden lock within the Ultion automatically engages, so that even when snapped twice nothing gets past it. Leaving a key on the inside of the lock won’t affect its performance either.

Rigorously tested, nothing beats the Ultion, not even the finest 3 star locks, making it the UK’s best and most secure lock guaranteed.

  • Ultion offers double snap resistance
  • When attacked the Ultion instantly goes into ‘Lockdown Mode’
  • Stays snap secure even with a key in the inside of the lock
  • Some locks have 5 pins, others have 6, Ultion has 11
  • Ultion protects against Lock Drilling

This next video demonstrates how a standard door lock can be opened in only 9 seconds! compared to the highly secure Ultion Lock, that will be fitted in your new Solidor Composite Door from Gardinia Windows.

Optional Lock Lock Door Handle:

The Lock Lock Door handle is next generation security handle that is now available on all Solidor Composite Doors as an optional extra. The Lock Lock handle compliments the high security Ultion Euro Cylinder which is installed as standard on Solidor Composite Doors.

With a Lock Lock handle a switch on the inside handle denies the door handle from been operated. When this is activated it’s impossible for the door spindle to turn, in turn denying the door from opening, even if the euro cylinder was snapped from the outside. The end result keeping a would-be intruder firmly locked out.
