This week we are featuring a more unusual Upvc Door we have supplied for South Yorkshire Boat Club. This fire exit door is unusual due to it having an internal panic bar and an external locking handle, allowing keyed entry to the building from outside when the building is locked. However what is special is this door still remaining a full functional fire exit, allowing anyone from the inside to push the bar and open the door in the event of an emergency, regardless of if it is locked.

You might remember South Yorkshire Boat Club who we featured on the Gardinia blog back in 2018 when we designed a Door With a Difference for their main club entrance. Before this door was fitted we cleaned and polished the edge of the exterior leaf of the glass to allow light to transmit through it, finally fitting a 12v LED light strip to the drainage channel of the door sash. This resulted in the sand blasted design being illuminated by the hidden LED strip, creating a unique effect.
