Mr & Mrs Evans approached Gardinia to look at updating the front of their dormer bungalow. The original intention was to renew the Splayed Bay window, front dormer windows and to replace the Fascias. It soon become apparent that both the window board and the roof of the bay had no insulation and weren’t in the best condition.
After discussions with Mr & Mrs Evans, they decided to renew the bay, window board and bay roof using insulated materials to meet current building regulations. I then suggested that we may be able to modify the design to create more of a feature at the front of the property. We changed the design from a 3-sectioned splayed bay to a 4-sectioned bow window, increasing the projection of the bay to give more of a curve.
This has created a very satisfactory result that Mr & Mrs Evans are delighted with and has also increased their seating area in their lounge as the cats now sit in the bay window rather than on the sofa.
The new Dormer windows, bathroom window and fascias around the dormer and the main roof have finished the job off nicely with new felt drips to ensure full weather proofing around the dormer roof.
To truly appreciate the end result of this job you need to see some before and after photos, below we have a before photo of the old bay window and the front of the property before any work was undertaken.
